Our primary goal is to improve access to mental health services for young individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We believe that by adopting a more integrated approach, we can significantly improve the way these services are delivered.
We want see a reduction in waiting times for mental health services by implementing early intervention strategies. We need a proactive approach to help address issues before they escalate, ensuring that young people receive the support they need in a timely manner.
Furthermore, it is crucial for decision-makers to actively listen to the voices of our young people. Their insights and experiences are invaluable in shaping services that truly meet their needs. We advocate for collaborative efforts that include young individuals in discussions, ensuring that their perspectives are considered in the development and improvement of mental health services.

It’s important to get early diagnosis for and timely intervention is a crucial objective. Currently, there are significant disparities in how diagnoses are conducted across different local authorities; some areas lack the necessary resources or services to provide these essential evaluations. Our goal is to ensure equitable access to diagnostic services for all individuals, regardless of their location.
Furthermore, we aim to significantly reduce the waiting times for assessments and appointments. In some cases, individuals face delays of up to three years before they can secure their first consultation. This prolonged waiting period is unacceptable, as it can hinder early intervention and the effectiveness of subsequent treatments. We advocate for a streamlined approach to improve the efficiency of the diagnostic process, ensuring that everyone receives timely and appropriate care.
